Similar to Study Abroad, National Student Exchange (NSE) is another chance, prior to the senior year, to increase understanding of literatures and languages from diverse cultural perspectives. Planning for an educational exchange requires advance research, planning, and consultation in order to find a good fit and to help you coordinate credits earned elsewhere with your major and degree program. Past English majors have studied in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Oregon, Montana, and all over the U.S. and Canada.
Contact the University’s NSE advisors at nseadv@class.cla.umn.edu, 612-626-2044, or by inquiring at Career Services.

Service learning classes inspired this English major to teach in Senegal
"With service learning classes, you're not just participating in the campus environment: You're a figure outside in the community. After awhile you realize that you're making an impact...You're connecting with different people: and having all these different relationships really changes your future."
