"Computer-Based Writing Assignments," Computer-Assisted Composition Journal, 3:1 (1988), 31-42.


Based on Jakobson's and others' notions of communication theory, proposes various ways that having a teacher's window for a writing assignment and a student's window for response, the computer could be flexible enough to express the teacher's sense of what is an effective assignment prompt, and to adjust assignments which are over- or underdetermined for a specific group of students.
